Handling boundary disputes

Maidenhead Golf Club

David Powell FRICS, land surveyor and boundaries expert, will discuss how to handle boundary disputes.  Boundary disputes, usually between property-owning neighbours, have been with us since records began and will likely continue for ever.   The task is not to try and stop them from happening, but to find a way of dealing with them in an equitable and economic manner.

Standing seam roofing with Garland

Kings Hotel, Stokenchurch, High Wycombe HP14 3TA

In this talk on standing seam roofing, Daniel Sandell, Regional Technical Manager of The Garland Company (UK), will talk about sustainable roofing design, metal roofing systems and, in particular standing seam roofing systems.

The talk will cover the following elements to provide a better understanding of standing seam roofing:

The importance of bees

Shaw House, Newbury RG14 2DR

For an early May evening, we've selected a topic that may not be mainstream for most surveyors, but which has an impact on the lives of all of us:  "The importance of bees".  Those of you who read the RICS Land Journal may have seen an article on beekeeping in RICS Land Journal, October-November 2018 and earlier articles on the importance to agriculture of pollination by bees.

Leases and licences

Maidenhead Golf Club, Shoppenhangers Road, Maidenhead SL6 2PZ

David Haines and Richard Hosmer of Charles Russell Speechlys will be explaining the differences between leases and licences, the appropriate use of each form of agreement, supported by a variety of examples.

Spotted in The Guardian in August 2018:

"Mike Ashley is running House of Fraser’s stores under licence from the company’s administrator, EY, so he is free to hand back the keys without penalty on any store he does not want."  True or false?  Come along and find out.
