Barry Gilbertson FRICS delivers a topical seminar for 2012: "Whatever next: resuscitation or recovery?" in which he talks about the relationship between the economy, banking business and property, and a glimpse into the future, covering:

  • market drivers
  • the importance of valuation
  • a lenders' world
  • lessons from recessions
  • his views : real estate future.

Many of you may have heard Barry speak at the Five Counties Conference in High Wycombe in 2010 and 2011.  This talk builds upon his thoughts from earlier years and will offer an evening of thought-provoking comment and motivating guidance for everyone.

Barry Gilbertson is a specialist in strategic solutions for real estate in a business context.   He runs his own consultancy, following 15 years as a partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he ran the real estate advisory team.  He has advised the Bank of England since 2003, was on the United Nations Real Estate Advisory Group from 2000-2005, was RICS President in 2004-05, and has lectured at 16 different universities around the world in his role as Visiting Professor of The Built Environment at Northumbria University, where he has been in post for 8 years.

Barry is an independent non-executive director of MI Developments Inc, a very large Canadian real estate corporation with 105 industrial properties in 8 countries, currently transitioning into a REIT.
 

Tea/coffee will be served from 6.00pm, giving an opportunity for networking prior to the talk, and the golf club bar will be open afterwards.
