Oxford Briefing XXVI
Oxford Briefing XXVI is the weekend conference for building surveyors, facilities and estate managers, architects and construction professionals. Organised by local RICS members, the conference attracts delegates from across Southern England. The venue is Pembroke College, Oxford.
There are still places available for this first-class technical and networking event.
For 2010 we are changing the format, starting the event on Saturday morning rather than Friday evening. The format for Saturday and Sunday remain the same as in previous years.

Technical Programme
The technical programme will run from 9.00am to 6.00pm on Saturday, 11 September, and 9.15am to 12.45pm on Sunday, 12 September. Topics in the programme include:
- Rights of light
- The myth of rising damp
- Defects in commercial buildings
- CDM 2007 for practitioners
- Mastic asphalt
- Carbon reduction through modern boiler technology
- Electrical installations in commercial buildings
- Secure by design
- BS 9999 - fire safety built-in
- Design and specification of lead
- Business development for smaller firms
- RICS update
- Tour of Pembroke College's current refurbishment work.
Throughout Saturday an exhibition will take place alongside the technical programme. Delegates are encouraged to view the exhibition stands during breaks in the programme.
All delegates will receive a delegate pack upon arrival. On the Saturday, refreshments will consist of: tea, coffee and pastries upon arrival, morning and afternoon tea breaks, and St Aldate's ever-praiseworthy hot lunch.
Gala Dinner
On Saturday evening, there will be a gala dinner in Pembroke College. Our master of ceremonies will be David Jones, a Toastmasters' UK & Ireland champion. Because of the Dining Hall refurbishment, dinner will take place in accommodation in the North Quad.
Sunday morning tour
On Sunday morning, in addition to the technical programme, there will be a tour of the refurbishment work, which has uncovered previously unknown architectural features hidden by the Victorians!
Friday night B&B
For those not wishing to travel on Saturday morning, there is the option of staying in college on Friday night. There will be no evening meal arranged, but there may be a visit to one or two of Oxford's hidden taverns.
Travel and car parking
There is no car parking available at Pembroke College. We have arranged car parking with Oxford & Cherwell Valley College, a short walk from Pembroke College, for £20.00 from 6.00pm on Friday to 1.00pm on Sunday. This is probably the cheapest car parking for the weekend in Oxford.
Delegates not staying overnight may wish to use Oxford's Park & Ride facilities.
Pembroke College is 15 minutes' walk from Oxford railway station.
