The Five Counties Conference returns on Wednesday, 29 February 2012, re-invigorated through the enthusiasm and endeavours of its organising committee, and offers a programme of speakers and topics that are essential listening for chartered surveyors across the South East.

Going for gold

Karen Pickering MBE, champion swimmer

In 1996, Karen Pickering broke her back in a car acident.  She'd already won three gold medals at the 1993 World Championships and the 1994 Commonwealth Games.  Did she think of retiring?  No.  She returned to competitive swimming to win a further four gold medals.  She tells her inpsiring story of commitment, seizing opportunities and achieving success.

Travelling to the conference

The venue for the conference is the Wycombe Swan theatre, St Mary Street, High Wycombe  HP11 2XE.  It's located in the centre of High Wycombe, just off the High Street.

You have a choice of travel options:

By rail  The theatre is five minutes' walk from High Wycombe railway station, served by Chiltern Railways, with a journbey time of around 30 minutes from London Marylebone.

By car  There are several car parks in High Wycombe town centre, including the St Mary Street car park adjoining the theatre.

By park and ride  A park and ride service operates from Handy Cross (M40 Jn 4) to the town centre.  Buses run every 15 minutes and it costs only £2.60.  For satnav users, the park and ride car park is located at HP11 1UA.  The bus stop for the theatre is on Queen Victoria Road.

 

The Five Counties Conference is organised by a group of chartered surveyors who live and work across the five counties of Bedfordshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire  and Oxfordshire, with administrative support provided by 3CPD.
